I know I just posted some good news yesterday morning about my renal function improving a bit. I’m in the middle of the season of having my cancer re-staged. If you are, or were ever a cancer patient, you realize how frightening these tests can be. They will tell you if you are in remission, or heading down a horrible path. In a way you get used to it. . . to a point.
So, I had a group of cancer staging tests last Friday and they are just trickling in. There is some early indication (increase light chains and increased M-spike) that my cancer is starting to flare. Which of course is not good news. We will know more when the rest of the blood tests come in by Friday and when I get the results of my bone marrow biopsy. The biopsy is on Thursday. If it does look like it is flaring, it would mean I need to change therapies.
So, while I’m not too anxious, of course I want to live and I want to live without suffering. So, of course I want these tests to be good. If you pray, add this to your list.

Buenos días Johny, soy Helena Calvo, esposa de tu buen amigo Tony Prieto.
Hace algunas semanas, él mismo me recomendó tu blog, conocedor de que como cristiana estoy en un camino de búsqueda y replanteamiento.
En primer lugar me gustaría decirte que admiro tu honestidad en lo que escribes. No puedo ni imaginar el dolor que estás teniendo que atravesar…
Como cristianos nos enseñan, que debemos estar “por encima de las circunstancias dolorosas”, pero la realidad de nuestra vida no suele ser así. Yo tampoco creo que es así como debe ser. El dolor es dolor, el miedo es miedo, el llanto es llanto…y si lo escondemos, no somos reales. Por eso te doy gracias. Tu honestidad me da consuelo.
Dicho esto, quiero decirte que pido a Dios por ti y tu salud. Pido que te ayude, que te cure, que puedas respirar tranquilo de nuevo, y pasar por el lago con tu esposa, feliz.
