Bone Marrow Biopsies and Other Pastimes

I’m sorry for posting too much lately. I will calm it down soon. I know how much I hate signing up for a business newsletter and then receive mailings multiple times per day. But I wanted to update, the bone marrow is done (photo of the procedure this morning is below, Denise was there, wearing the newsie and crouching at the side). The results of all the test will be in toward the end of next week, telling us where the cancer is exactly and future treatments. I will have to say that bone marrow biopsies are the most painful experience I’ve ever had, although brief. This was bad, but not as bad as the last one six months ago. I’ve had a total of five. I think my poor brother (suffering from leukemia) has had double that.

Hope you get good news. I remember the first time as an intern I had to perform a bone biopsy..It was a primitive thing. the act of doing to another something so painful in the name of healing. My heart goes out to you and to your family.

Hi Mike, I’m happy you were able to get the bone marrow testing done..sorry it was so painful though! I’ve missed some posts but know I am reading most of them and catching up. I had to take a mental health break from the internet..2020 is really full of crap. 😉 I will always want good things for you so that of course includes good health. I know it is so important to feel well!! Happy news about your Renal tests. Many prayers for some positive news next week. I also want to congratulate you on the completion of Ristretto Rain..I’ve been keeping my eye out for it. I just bought the pre-order and I do love the cover. I will also be praying for some peace in your life..you deserve it!!

I so wish I would have known about this blog a while ago. My sister in law just told me she is reading your book and so I looked you up and eventually bumped into your blog! I was a patient of yours, along with so many others that you served wonderfully. I have been thinking of you often since I heard of your diagnosis. So glad I found this, because it means I found you..and can finally know how you’re doing!

  I hope you are doing well. I did work hard, physically, to come back to work but then to my surprise they closed our clinic just as I was coming back. Dr. Moren and I were on the cusp of creating a new headache clinic in Bellingham when COVID hit. While it would have telemedicine, because of my bone marrow transplant I could have no contact with the public during COVID, so that was the death nail. We will see what happens when the vaccine comes out. There are fewer and fewer headache specialists because our society, including hospitals, don’t value the illness or sufferers. Sad.
