It is that monthly time when we check on the status of my cancer. My labs just returned a few minutes ago, showing that I’m entering my 17th month of remission. For that I am eternally gratefully.

Cottage Building: Thankfully has slowed down. Now that I have a video camera again, I plan on doing some videos of the progress and will post those in the coming weeks. I have a grandson living with me who needs a lot of attention, not to mention homeschooling, that gives me just an hour per day for the cottage. But I wouldn’t trade this time with Hayden for a thousand stone cottages.

New You Tube channel: THE POST CHRISTIAN

I am crawling back under my rock, embracing the hermit life once again. It will be quite lonely when Hayden is gone in a few weeks. I’ve ended my written ramblings here, but as an outlet for my voice, I’ve created a You Tube channel for a series of conversations, titled “POST CHRISTIAN.” We are now (since 2012) living in a post Christian world (defined as less than 50% have a church affiliation). I believe that it is the American Christian culure that is being rejected as no longer relavent, not necessarily the historical Jesus, and that rejection could be a good thing. I see culure as amoral, neither good or bad, mostly extraneous, unless it interferes with something that is good. But I think Christianity is like a Roman ship, wrecked upon a rocky shoal, and sinking fast. It may be time for some to jettison that cargo and return to a profoundly simple and transferable faith. Maybe one single plank of the ship to hold on to. This idea is certainly not for everyone.

These conversations are intended for those who have left Christianity, considering leaving, or those who are disillusioned with it (even if they never speak about that disillusionment). The good people who are happy-in-Christianity (meaning the American Christian culture) as it is, but are still curious, are welcome to come, however, beware that I will be deconstructing Christian culture with brutal emotional and intellectural honesty. If you think that could upset you, you shouldn’t come. If I did not love and respect those who don’t see the world as I do, I would have no friends in that world.

My purpose with this vlog is to separate the Christian culture from the profoundly simple teachings of the historical Jesus of Galilee so the proverbial baby isn’t tossed out with the bathwater during this mass exodus. That’s all. It also gives me something to do with my mind, while my body builds a cottage.

After this POST CHRISTIAN series of 8-10 videos, I plan on doing a philosohical series titled, The Grand Enigma. I consider the “Grand Engima” as the fact that we exist and none of the possible explanations are a slam dunk to explain origins and meaning, if you view them honestly. While each religious answer and atheism, claim that they are unique and have the best default position, they each have their own bottlenecks, difficulties at certain points, including Christianity (my Christian friends get angry at me when I say honest things like that). Yet, nihilism is a cruel answer that some default to. This will be an honest conversation.
