I am resurrecting my controversial writings I called “My Ramblings.” While my topics could vary, there is one solid purpose for my writing here, and always has been the same. Because I was severely disillusioned with Christianity at one point (and am still disillusioned with the Christian culture, especially evangelicalism), my heart is with those who are leaving the church or have left. In case you are not aware, there is a mass exodus from organized religion at this moment in history and that’s not going to change. I even think it could be a good thing. Three years ago, America passed a threshold into a “post-Christian” realm, where more are not involved with a Christian organization, such as a church, than are. I see myself standing outside the backdoor of the church, saying to those leaving, “I completely understand why you are leaving, but please take Jesus with you.”

Yes, those leavers are my passion. I do understand them as I do not relate to the Christian culture anymore, although I adore the Jesus of history and do see him as the Messiah. However, I am a rationalist, a child of the Enlightenment, a pre-Kierkegaardian thinker. And for that reason, I am a misfit in today’s church but I’m not their enemy. To be clear, I see a lot of great people in the church, people who are far better than me. My mission has never been to just criticize the church, but to deconstruct the Christian culture into its parts so that those who are disillusioned can understand what’s happened. It is not a Jesus of Galilee problem, but an American Christian culture problem.
My criticisms have never been personal, me attacking a single person. However, my writing has provoked others to personally attack me, sometimes viciously. For that reason, I decided a year ago to suspend my ramblings. But I have faced other attacks since, so I might as well write. I’m seriously even considering writing a book titled, Post Christian; A survivor’s guide for living in the post-Christian wilderness.
