On Writing, I Need Beta Readers for One Chapter of the Book I’m Working on, “How Cancer Taught Me to Swear.”

I finished writing my new novel, Agony of a Woman (working title), and am now pitching it to agents. Since that story was somber, taking the reader into the heart of the abortion issue, per Denise’s suggestion, the book I am starting now will be light. It is tentatively titled, “How Cancer Taught Me to Swear.” I have just finished the seventh chapter, in rough draft. As any stand-up comedian could tell you, comedy is fragile. It can be funny, bomb, or offensive. This is especially true about a topic like cancer and Southern humor. I am looking for a few people to read the first chapter and give me feedback on whether the humor works. I will not be offended even if the report is negative because the last thing I want to do is publish a book that bombs. So, at this juncture, I can abandon the project or take it in a different direction if it isn’t working. Feel free to PM me if you are interested. Again, it is just one rough chapter, ten double-spaced pages. Thanks, Mike
